There on a hill of daisies
That were blooming wild and free,
Sat Anita crying softly
While the waves washed in from the sea.
She glanced up for just a moment
Then closed her eyes in prayer,
Why is it God you have to take
Our loved ones for it's not fair.
Why have you come for Mommy
For she's only thirty two,
The Doctor gave her two weeks to live
And I don't know what to do.
I have a brother and a sister
Both much younger than I,
How do I provide for them
Should I explain or should I lie?
Anita's eyes were red and swollen
As she stopped to wipe a tear,
Then a voice came down from the heavens
"I am here so do not fear".
I my child do not choose
Who should live or die,
That's just one part of living
That can't be answered with a why.
When I provided life my child
It was there for you each day,
Some may live for many years
While others will pass away.
Your Mommy talked to me last night
Then asked if I'd explain to you,
She'll be right beside you every day
No matter what you do.
You my child will carry on
Her shoes are for your feet,
So take the hands of your brother and sister
Together life we all will meet.
Along with life there is also death
Which may come at any time,
You must not fear your walk through life
For there'll be many mountains you will climb.
Even though your Mom will be here with me
Our hearts will be with you,
Now walk through life with confidence
For you'll know what to do.
