My daddy has been called away
My tears I try so hard to fight back
I do not know if he will make it out
If on him they attack.
This war he told me He must fight
And he’s not sure how long he will be gone
I am going to miss him every day and night
But I told him I would leave our porch light on.

He told me he knows the things he will see
And he won't let them stop him from thinking about me
And if by chance he were too die
He told me I would forever be his little guy.
Every night I will talk to him in a prayer
Thanking him for wanting to be there
To make sure we live in a safe place
And freedom is what we will be able to embrace.

My daddy is truly one a kind
A hero in him is what I find
I love him with all my heart
For him wanting to do his part.
My daddy I know won't back down
Regardless of the things that may come around
He will fight all the way up to the end
Because it is our country he is trying to defend.

When I grow up I too will serve
A difference is what I want to make
I will follow in my daddy footsteps
Because this is a chance I too am willing to take.
