~~ The Perfect Gift ~~
Christmas is the best time of the year Not only because we have family and friends near But because it reminds us of the most beautiful kind of love That only exists within the Heavens above So many have forgotten the true meaning of this day And what exactly we all have been blessed with along our way It matters not if we are rich, poor, old, young or small The true meaning of this day is a gift for the hearts of all If we were to pause a minute then our eyes would see There is more to Christmas then what lies beneath the tree It matters not what gift to another we give or we receive Christmas day should be a time for all hearts to believe In the Heavenly gift God has given to each and everyone For He gave to us His One and Only Begotten Son And knowing this priceless gift is ours and ours alone Is the greatest gift any heart could ever own For in the true meaning of Christmas we are able to find The love and peace within the heart, soul and mind A wonderful feeling in which with others we are able to share For God has given our hearts the perfect gift to wear Whether Christmas is spent with love ones far or near The true meaning of this day is what fills the heart with cheer So let us not forget the importance of Christmas Day When Christ the King was born in a manager far away. © Pamela Lawson ~ December 12, 2003 Please respect author copyright, do not use or copy poetry without first seeking permission from the author.
