~~ My Special Christmas Tree ~~
As I sit here watching snowflakes gently wafting to the ground, I think of things I could do with a tree that I went out and found. It’s branches are so full and of the brightest green I could find, And then an idea comes to me floating ‘round in my mind. I could have each branch decorated with wonders that would last, Hung on every limb would be a scene of a memory from my past. Oh what a tree I would have when it was draped with memories, I can see it in my mind out shining all the other Christmas trees. My Granny would top the tree as the angel, her hair would make it glow, The dandelion puffs I blew in summer would cover it like snow. Mommy’s tears over the doll would be the ice to sparkle on each limb, And the cabin would be the place where I learned to worship Him. Mountains, fields and meadows I’d use for the skirting ‘neath the tree, And I’d become a child again and play there so happily. The homemade sled would hang the lowest so I could feel the weathered wood, These reflections from the past make me feel so good. What beautiful wonderful thoughts it brings into my life today, A very special Christmas tree where beneath it I could lay. And watch as each scene began to animate before my eyes; Bringing to life once again, sweet memories of all my yesterdays. © Norma Marek ~ Revised 7th December 2003
